Battle of the Bands (Report)

Concessions – $256.55 profit
Water and candy sold well, but not hot dogs. People were requesting sport drinks; next time, those and pizza should be tried on the menu. Papa John’s usu. offers good deals on large orders placed a few days in advance.

Inherit the Wind (Report)
Attendance – 195 + 235=430 totalConcessions - $207.95 profit
In spite of a number of cast changes during rehearsals, the play turned out well. The set, scene lighting, and use of fans by the performers were very effective.
"An Evening of Improv" (Report)
Attendance (audience) – 134 ($670)Attendance (workshop) – 50-60 ($50 profit)
Concessions - $113 profit
With the workshop running from 3-6 pm, it would have been good to make food available. For a price, those preregistering could order a sub sandwich, drink and chips. Also have donated baked goods. This first-time event for Davidson was a success and can be expected to grow in popularity as word gets around. Another night of improvisation will be held on April 7.
"Sunday Afternoon with the Giggle Factory" (Report)
Attendance – 349 ($500+)Concessions - $106 profit. $1 charged for a juice box and cookie or cupcake (cookies preferred)
Giggle Factory
The Giggle Factory troupe has 2 appearances coming up – at a child day care and at a church. Donations are taken to go toward scholarships.
Epic Proportions, Feb. 24 and 25 at 8 pm
Poster drive is this week. Set building is started. Volunteers needed to sew 10 togas.
State Thespian Conference
Mar. 3-5will be held at Ashland University.
Anything Goes, May 12 and 13 at 8 pm, May 14 (Mother’s Day) at 3 pm
Auditions – 79 students auditioned for dancing and 40 auditioned for singing/acting The cast list will be posted in a day or two. Dance rehearsals will begin right away with Scott Jones, who has been choreographer for many Davidson shows, as well as for troupes such as Vaud-villities in the Columbus area.

D. Vance has the invitation and details for this event sponsored by the Nat’l Endowment for the Arts through the Ohio Arts Council.
Fringe Festival, Summer 2007 in Edinburgh, Scotland
The Davidson Drama program sent a troupe to this great international gathering in both 1998 and 2003. It was honored by being nominated once again to submit an application (by the Feb. 6 ’06 deadline), which D. Vance reports has been done. Selection of a play and the group of Davidson acting and tech. students to make the 2+ week trip will be decided later. Of course, those students will need to do lots of creative fund-raising in the coming months. Graduates in Spring ’07 are eligible, along with their younger classmates.
