Minutes from the Dec. 5, 2005 meeting were read and approved.
Motion
Motion approved for $510 to be paid to Kosada Inc. for the 2006 costs of hosting the above website.This includes $35/month for hosting/server use plus $90 for domain name registration. The cluster of names registered are krot-technology.ru, .net, and .org; (also davidsondrama.com, .net, and .org). Robert Vance is providing maintenance of the site to us free of charge.
Battle of the Bands, Jan. 21
Admission will be $5/person. 11 bands have registered, each paying a $20 fee. Greg Grimes (Lone Wolf Sound Co. – providing the sound equipment for $300) has met with the bands, along with J. Meyers, D. Vance, and Tom Baker (Tom has organized our past Battles). Concessions – J. Reed and M. Zambrotta; Contest – D. Brawley; Security – P. Van Horn. Security will include a Hilliard police officer (hired at $35/hr.) Stage draperies provided by Event Design and Installation Inc.
Inherit the Wind, Jan. 27 and 28 at 8 pm
Concessions can be sold at intermission.
"An Evening of Improv", Feb. 4 at 7 pm
Similar in format to the show “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” T. Crawford acts as emcee for Columbus-area high school teams (3-5 students each), who create skits on the spot. Judging by 2 members of the SmartyPants Theater in Dayton and Michael Starner, Davidson’s Attendance Adminis. From 3-6 pm, SmartyPants will lead a workshop. Admission is $5/person. Concessions can be sold at intermission. Another such night of improvisation will be held on April 7.
"Sunday Afternoon with the Giggle Factory", Feb. 5 at 2 pm
Skits and clowning by drama students for elementary children, music by Debbie Taylor (aka Mrs. Sparkles), carnival games and other activities. $1/child and $2/ adult. Mrs. Sparkles and her guitar are well known to Hilliard kindergarteners and part of the reason there were 600 or so attending this event last year.
Epic Proportions, Feb. 24 and 25 at 8 pm
There is an intermission for this comedy directed by T. Crawford. About 50 togas need to be sewn (T. Crawford has the pattern and fabric.)
State Thespian Conference
Mar. 3-5will be held at Ashland University.
Poetry Out Loud, Apr. 29
D. Vance has the invitation and details for this event sponsored by the Nat’l Endowment for the Arts through the Ohio Arts Council.
Fringe Festival, Summer 2007 in Edinburgh, Scotland
The Davidson Drama program sent a troupe to this great international gathering in both 1998 and 2003. It has been honored by being nominated once again to submit an application (by the Feb. 6 ’06 deadline). Selection of a play and the group of Davidson acting and tech. students to make the 2+ week trip would be decided later. Of course, those students will need to do lots of creative fund-raising in the coming months. Graduates in Spring ’07 are eligible, along with their younger classmates.
